Helping others gives me peace

I quote a friend Dale Bhagwagar here: “Problems sab ko hoti hai! Dard sab ko hota hai! Over the years, however one gets used to dealing with them. This practice of ignoring the dard by a lot of people, is what I term as being positive.” This coming from a guy like Dale, who is known to be “happier than thou” at all times, is quite a revelation.

He is not entirely wrong. I have realized an seen everybody be it actor, pr, reporter, politician, housewife, CA, office boy…..all have their share of issues. ALL. If we think we are the one suffering the most and that god has been very unkind to me and only me, we are wrong.

A learned person once told me…..a very good way of reducing your pain is to see the pain of others around you. Its as much if not more than yours. And to help yourself deal with your pain help others reduce their pain.

You might not be in position to solve their problems entirely. But if you sit and listen to them it might not let them feel alone.

In this kalyug as a friend puts it, if we manage to maintain our sanity we have achieved a lot. My way of maintaining my sanity is to devote myself to others. It doesn’t necessary apply I stop living for myself. I will not be able to help others if I am not standing on my feet firmly.

But to share your joys with others and help them reduce their sorrows makes my life worthwhile. If u haven’t done that ever, try once. It gives u peace.

It gives me peace.
